David Heinold has been working as a County Planner for Minnehaha County, South Dakota for 4 years where he is responsible for the County’s planning administration, code enforcement, and permitting functions. He has also served as the Planning Intern for the Town of McCordsville, Indiana, La Porte, Indiana, and Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission. He was born and raised in La Porte, Indiana.

David received a Bachelor’s of Urban Planning & Development from Ball State University in December 2012. He is a member of the American Planning Association (APA), APA County Planning Division, Western Central Chapter of APA (WCC), National Association of County Planners (NACP), South Dakota Planners Association (SDPA), APA County Planning Division, League of American Bicyclists (LAB), Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network (YPN), and Falls Area Bicyclists (FAB).

David is currently serving as the Chair of the APA County Planning Division (CPD) and National Association of County Planners (NACP). He also serves as the Vice-President of the SDPA and Webmaster for the APA Western Central Chapter. As part of the Chair-Elect duties for the CPD, he was responsible for serving on the Awards Jury for the Outstanding Planning Student Organization award category organized by the Student Representatives Council of APA. He has also served as the Ride Director for Falls Area Bicyclists for almost two years and is a League Cycling Instructor.

David is excited to lead both CPD and NACP for the next two years and encourage more people to join the association!
